One of the most beautiful, most humble people in our scene. His love of music, his love of people and wanting to connect with people through the power of music is just wonderful.
Actaully he is not that humble. He was a gatekeeper and didn't want house and techno mixed together in the early 90s for example (how retarded is that?) and he resisted breakbeats and missed the boat on drum & bass. i'm a fan of his work but not a fan of him.
Couldn't say any better!! He is just wonderful inside and out as an artist and a human being!!! So pure! So humble! So transparent! So full of positive energy! And so so much more! 1 book is not enough to describe this Legend! We ❤ you Carl Cox! With full heart! Just like you love us and love music and share your love and passion with us through your truly amazing art - your music! Thank you for being you! ❤🙌🥰
Carl Cox is legendary. He's the master of festivals and is quite humble and inspiring. Made an African girl fall with house, because of his representation
this lad has been in the top DJ's worldwide for more than 20+ years touring the world and playing in the best parties since the underground scene took form....yet he is so humble and down to earth... Long Live the KING CARL COX oh yes oh yes
man this guy is incredible, I was looking at his tracklists and he’s flying all over the world, playing incredible music for people who arent nearly as passionate as him, and he’s so humble, great interview
Saw him at Tomorrowland 2015. One of the first techno sets I had ever seen at that time. Completely melted me. One of his best sets ever and he's one of the best DJ's ever.
Carl Cox is the best. He so experienced, played for so many crowds, he knows what makes people from all around the world move. He has been the constant in this electronic DJ music world, been a constant in my listening. One of the greatest, if not the greatest.
The guy is an icon. He’s a master at what he does. Seen him more times than I can count. From the uk and to Ibiza. Only just see him play 2 weeks ago at creamfields south. What he does as a Dj and the way he plays he’s sets is unmatchable. A true pioneer. An he’s just announced he’s playing at Wembley in September. See you soon Carl 🔥
I first seen Carl dj at a rave in 1991.. 30 years on I'm still dancing to him dj'ing at festivals & ibiza. The guy is a pioneer, legend and a gentleman
When you think DJ you think Carl Cox . . . The best DJ this world has ever known without any shadow of doubt. This legendary character took techno and made it his own . . . Long live Carl Cox !
I saw Carl on 3 decks in the vynil days and when you could get close to the DJ booth, to see his mixing skills up close was mesmerising to be able to cut between 3 records at that pace takes serious musicality.
A deep understanding of rhythm .....also. I've heard a near as perfect kick scratch drop to stop in one manouvre....live on radio one, his scratching chops are ace.
@Mike Oxlong ha ha yeh. Even Fantazia Big Bang in 94 he was messy. Eliss Dee and others at the same event wiped the floor on him in terms of mixing. He played the big tunes though. Tried to scratch and couldn't manage it while the other Djs were scratching at a way higher level by that point, then he switched to house/techno. But hats off to Carl Cox, he is a massive DJ and a pioneer no doubt. You can't take anything away from him really.
Big Bang was a brilliant mix one of my favourites. Every tune from start to finish was excellent and of course the mixing and scratching. Nice one Carl 💙
There is a reason he is legendary as a dj alone. Listen to a dance mix and you will see he mixes music in key. So he will roll out a seven min tune and sample a different track and use that hook during parts of the song already playing. I was a scratch dj for years and into much darker music but he is one of the British DJs as both music and as a man I genuinely love. Met him a few times over the years and he as always been not only a pleasure but just a G. For those youngers out there, go check out “I want you , Forever” which he made in the 90s. It’s a magic track
I have been a very lucky and had a privilege of meeting Carl at his 50th birthday party at Sands in Ibiza. Had a little chat with him, and that man just radiates joy, happiness and such positive energy. He is simply the KING
My first experience of a rave and Carl Cox was an event at Plymouth Warehouse in 93. The TV cameras were there with a program called BPM. I ended up being on the TV dancing away to Carl Cox and MC Majeka. I was only 14 lol. For the next 5 years I was obsessed with the scene. I will never forget that night. The sound when I walked in the warehouse door of one hard techno beat echoing over the next from the ridiculously big sound system. 40k with a huge stack of bass bins in the middle of the warehouse. The power of the music was incredible. I next saw Carl later that year at my first all nighter Universe Big Love. I used to live for the next rave. Everyone happy no attitudes no phones. It was a utopia of happiness. Such a shame there is nothing like the scene now how it was. It was literally like being in heaven. The people, the music, the pure escape. I thought the future was bright for the scene. As it turns out it was a golden time. Those that were there will understand. I still try to be kind to people, the scene accepted me and I am Thankful for what it gave me. I still listen to the music mainly from 92,93,94. It really was amazing.
I Have been fortunate enough to have seen Carl Cox live a few times through the 90’s in London, he was a legend then and he continues to be today, apart from his obvious music talent, what a great attitude to life! If only there was more people like Carl Cox.
I was just listening to Carl Cox @Amnesia House 1992 and this popped up. What a great little informative interview! Carl Cox wasn't just my favourite dj in the early 90's, his skill, record selection and energy behind the music done something so impactful on my life I don't think it will ever be topped, and kept me locked into that culture until this day (although I don't really listen to his new sets to be honest). It was interesting to hear how he was introduced to djing by his dad, and explains why his work ethic was SO consistent and prolific....it's in his DNA! Well now it's in mine too, thanks Carl! I was lucky enough to see him a few times back in the day. He was literally like a God in my opinion! One of the few people that has touched me so deep i'd say its spiritual! Massive respect to this man 🙏❤👌💯
grew up in England at the beginning of the Hardcore scene...Absolute golden era... Amazing times, no socials, no "whats your tracklist" non saturated with wannabe djs....great times
Carl Cox is a master of taking his audience on a journey. That's why I love his work. His third table remarks ... when I started using a third table the game changed.
Music is the best drug. I do not need any other "uppers" or "fixers", just feed me trance, acid and house, and I can dance for 12 h non-stop too. That's where you wanna be in your 40s, 60s and 90s ;) Thank you, Carl, for giving us the best vibes.
Carl Cox is one of a kind person he is but mostly is about his music he plays and travel around the world for people to hear which he loves he really loves good people his made his own business and making different kind of music and he still playing music that is his passion meeting different people and traveling to places that what music is what he became and music artists and passion he has from his heart. Carl is still a big music icon
He put his families needs first over his own trauma , a beautiful son ,brother and friend to all he holds dear . May you continue always and eternally to be lovingly guided and protected Carl
Saw him and Sasha at a little crssd event in San Diego a few weeks back. I was running on very little sleep and felt awful. This dudes three hour set gave me so much life it was almost unbelievable. Dude is a master
I grew up with Carl. What a pleasure to both be playing the Edinburgh Fringe once at the same year. He had more in one show than I managed in 23 consecutive but still. Big respect bruvva.
I have pleasure to be 5times at this legend partyes, not even close how manny times I wish to be...I have been at hundreds and hundreds partyes...no one can come even close to his energy. When you go to his party, you will know what I'm talking about.I love you mr.C,you gaved me some of the best moments of my life.
His parties?? U mean raves? He was at masses in the 90s, u only been to 5 occasions where Cox was in the play list? So u don't live in the uk I'm taking it otherwise this number would have been much more as it was impossible to go to large raves in uk back then where Carl wasn't usually on the list.
Mr.Cox thank you, I love your art of dj Ing, the energy that flows from your work is just amazing, I am glad I found this interview, great thoughts and life experience, wishing you good health and loads of positive nrg. I am 50 yrs old, I love house music and dance scene since I was 10, and J absolutelly agree that music is a drug. Positive, no harm ,its the feeling you get...good music still cheers me up and gives me positive energy...you did a lot in dance scene and gave to a milions of people that positive happy feeling on your parties you made and still make your audience happy and help to release from stress, good job, thanks, greetings from Czechia, Vlado
It was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience seeing this legend in the flesh a few weeks back in New York. So glad he’s still doing it, and reeeeally looking forward to catching a house set next time!
The only man to hold a torch to big CC at the time was Sasha - and time has borne out to the sheer talent of these two DJs. Just magical men with a preternatural ability to perform the receitds rather than just mix them. Pure genius. Give Carl a Knighthood x

Moby? Fatboy Slim? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Check the reumé. No one had a work ethic like Carl Cox back in the day and put that work in in all the small clubs, even in the late 90's. Where was Fatboy Slim n Moby? Never ONCE did I see these names on flyers back then, but this man was extremely consistent 💯💯💯

yeah a big improvement on some of his previous interviews....

Uncle Carl, What a nice bloke.
Thanks so much for posting
Carl Cox is a legend alongside Moby, Paul Oakenfold, Junior Vasquez and Fatboy Slim.
