Oh woops, my apologies for not posting in the initial thread.

I'll be reading Jumyou wo Kaitotte Moratta. Ichinen ni Tsuki, Ichimanen de. / I sold my life for ten thousand yen per year.

What book made you fall in love with reading?
The Discomfort Zone by Farrah Storr

I randomly listened to a blinkist of this whilst on a train one time. I really enjoyed the content so I went out to get the book itself

What book made you fall in love with reading?

I don't recall any books that made me instantly fall in love with reading. But the first book that got me into a book series was Tarzan. I read the first 4 or 5 books, sadly, after the first few it just kept repeating itself so I stopped.

But the book that I was reading when I decided to read regularly was Dune. It had a very strong start, a boring middle part, and a not so bad ending

Ooh, there's some neat looking manga here, I was already planning to read a few of these. Think I'll go with Arisa first, that seems neat, but Omoide Emanon as well for sure since it's so short and is one of the ones I was already planning to read. Also super cool to see someone suggested Yomawari Sensei for this, that's a really good one.

That's a super tough question because I can't really remember, feels like I've always liked reading. The closest I can think of is A Series of Unfortunate Events, that's one of the earliest things I can remember reading and being super fond of, but maybe it was Roald Dahl's stuff actually now that I think about it more.

I'm gonna be reading Ningen Shikkaku (No Longer Human)

*Daily Q - What book made you fall in love with reading?

Although 'Cabal' by Clive Barker was my first hobby read (and he's still one of my fav writers), The book that really got me into it was 'Fahrenheit 451' - Ray Bradbury. I felt the way he was able to simplify his prose without losing depth and expression was the perfect transition for me into reading something longer than a comic book. That and the terror of imaging my new found hobby being burned also added a layer of immersion as well ;P

Happy Reading Everyone :)

maybe its time i actually read a manga for once, i'll go with Nijigahara Holograph

cant really say what book made me fall in love with reading since i've been reading since as long as i can remember. its kind of a shame that college burnt me out so badly that i have barely touched any books since then. I've got a whole pile of books ive always wanted to read that i salvaged from garage sales and giveaways.

What book made you fall in love with reading?

For me it was One Piece which was my first manga.

Before that i didn't enjoyed reading books, found them to be a slog to get through. But this series completely changed that with it's incredible world building and well written characters, at no point in the 1100+ chapters it felt like a slog. it also led me to check out more manga and made me enjoy reading more.

That's interesting to know. The Sloginess is the main thought that's keeping me away from the anime, but maybe I could take up the manga instead and treat it as a grand over-arcing series while reading other stuff? hmmm..

yeah i would highly recommend the manga over the anime because it's much more well paced and oda's artworks are incredible while the anime's art quality does take a dip in some arcs. though there's a community edit of the anime called "one pace" which fixes the pacing issues, so you can use that if you'd like to get into the series through anime

Well probably the first books i really got into was the Young Samurai novels when i was around 13, but other than that i'd say stuff like Kafka on the Shore, Dune and Gormenghast are all important books to me for different reasons.

probably jojo part 5 vento aureo. i started watching anime when i was 14 and one of the shows my friends had gotten me to watch was jojo which was airing at the time, and once that finished, i was eagerly waiting for the next season only to learn it would probably be a long time. so i started reading where the anime had left off and im pretty sure i read all of the parts that were released at the time shortly after. compared to my anime watching pace, i read manga at a snail's crawl, which is weird because im not a slow reader...

It was Berserk! I loved it so much, binged every chapter. I have fond memories reading it on the attic on vacation, on the back seat of the car, on the bus, and in the bed. It would be a 10/10 but the sea travel arc wasn't that interesting for me

Ao no Exorcist / Blue Exorcist, I picked volume 1 up randomly a local bookstore in 2011 and I've been following ever since. "Up to date" back then was around chapter 42? We're now on chapter 156.

What a journey it's been (of monthly releases, hiatuses from health, hiatuses from working on other projects, annual breaks/breathers). It wasn't always a 10/10 (in case anyone's ever seen on my MAL updates/Manga list that I gave Ao no Exorcist/Blue Exorcist a 10/10.

It's been hovering around 6-7/10 "alright-good" for many years,
it's only chapter 70 (later 2015-2016) that it became 7.5-8/10 "good-very good".
Then chapter 112 (mid 2019) is where I start thinking of this series as a 9-10/10 "great-masterpiece". It's just so perfect to me

Daily Question - what was your first manga?
It happened recently and because of the "what you LOVE/HATE about the user above" thread, and one of my H's was @PaperMemories saying "Hate that you don't read any manga" and I was like aww wat! I don't wana be hated by someone cool! So I posted in the "Comply or Deny" thread asking to recommend me my fist manga.. and @viraat_pirate swooped in and put me onto Teito Seihai Kitan: Fate/type Redline, the perfect recommendation. So yea, Thanks Wendy for pushing into manga, and Viraat for showing me where to start :)

Oh no, I've only read 2 manga lol.. *hides... don't look at me! >.< *
For now it's whoever wrote Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan. I checked on goodreads and saw Sumomo Yumeka and Mizu Sahara as illustrators, and Gong Jiyoung (from Korea) as the 'original' author. So I'm a little confused on who actually did the Manga.

Ookubo Atsushi: dude's insanely creative - he did an entire manga where everyone has fire or heat related powers and yet still had huge variety amongst them and even justified some pretty out-there stuff as relating to fire or heat, his urban style that he probably inherited from working on GetBackers is super cool, I love his non-standard depictions of insanity in Soul Eater, and in general all his manga just exude coolness.
If you wanted someone who's just a writer, then probably Aoki Yuuya; GetBackers was insane and so incredibly well done.

Blame! is probably still my favourite from him i think, despite having read (almost) everything he's put out. There's just something so mysterious and cryptic about it that i just can't stop thinking about, it's like sci fi Dark Souls. Plus the art is incredible as well.
