I've always thought of Local H as a more populist grunge. While Nirvana and most of the others were more artsy, and had more abstract themes, Local H has stuff that is much easier to relate to, and easier to understand. Not saying one is better than the other, but they were different.

I don't know about that maybe you weren't in the mind set for nirvana

@@austinromer523what is the mind set for criminally overrated songs and the luck of being in the right place at the right time. Sure, there are several Nirvana songs that are truly great but I agree that Local H covers a lot more with their lyrics than a mediocre guitar player with some songs so abstract that they basically mean nothing, unless I just don’t have the mindset for noise and lyrics that emanate from a guy in a heroin trance that couldn’t cope with life enough to make music that touched a universal mindset that needs no special state of mind other than a pair of ears and a good set of speakers. I’m not a Nirvana hater by any means, but I’ve come to realize their music doesn’t connect with me in my early 40’s and never really did lyrically even as a teenager or in my 20’s. It just sounded cool and had some interesting lyrics that were often very abstract and as the other dude said, generally not relatable to life and the ability to cope with the world and your own personal struggles. If I were a strung out 20 something blasted out of H then maybe it would be the mindset you’re referring to? He could’ve at least wrote a few songs about hating his wife, that’s pretty relatable to a lot of guys 😂. Maybe Courtney was Polly who wanted a cracker, or maybe some water - the cracker must be smack and the water was needed for her rig . He may have needed to get away from her “heart shaped box” that I assume looked and smelled like a sewer rat - Hole lot of regrets I’m sure. He’d probably be alive if he didn’t make the mistake of marrying the most disgusting creature who wanted the most cake. Unfortunately he gave her the wedding variety and sealed the deal with the succubus of grunge. I can’t imagine waking up next to her in Holey matrimony and not wanting to stick a shotgun in my mouth. Better to just nod off and pretend she doesn’t exist - but she isn’t the type that’s easily forgettable even with a few blasts of Mr. Brownstone. Poor feller, and it’s a miracle their daughter seems to be a well-adjusted, responsible woman that’s not a next-gen Yoko Ono of like her “Mother”. The odds were stacked against her growing up as a child of Father who committed suicide and a Mother that probably pushed him in that direction as much as his addiction/health problems/depression combo even could and may possibly have blood on her hands directly over the incident. Obviously, I really don’t like that trash bag of a woman… Sorry for the rant, a little bored and feeling chatty while my whole family is asleep and I scroll RUclips watching Local H videos and contemplating what might have been 😂.
At least Cornell made it to 2017 before his odd exit from this planet. He is the true voice of grunge in my opinion and seemed to be a genuinely good person and not the kind who would hang himself with rubber band exercise equipment after a concert in a city by himself with no and Staley held

With no indication of trouble from any family or friends, shortly after speaking with his wife and no surveillance video to prove no one entered his room. The pedos don’t like influential and beloved musicians, like Chris and Chester Bennington, exposing their darkness and trying to combat their evil doings. Odd timing for the both to kill themselves close to each other in time with the shared passion to expose and defend against the darkness. Obviously, Chester fought his own demons, as did Chris, and may have taken his life in a moment of crippling depression and despair, but my heart/guts cannot believe Chris would have taken that way out. But, I guess we never truly know what’s happening in a person’s mind and can’t see past the facade that many so convincingly put on before they fulfill their desire to end the misery and end the game. A lot of people seem unusually happy as if the veil of suffering had lifted, so they can get out without anyone being the wiser or trying to intervene. It was certainly the case with an old buddy of mine. Dealt with severe depression for a decade with several hospitalizations but seemed to have worked through it all, got married, had two kids and was the happiest I had ever seen him since middle school, but then was found in the garage with a noose around his neck and a note that shared the depth of the darkness and the fact that he never really healed. He actually got worse but became a better actor because he had the family “cast” that allowed him to project himself as such to his parents and long time friends that were there in the darkest times. His sweet and attractive wife and two cute and sweet kids (5 and 7) absolutely adored him and he was a really great husband, father and friend. A lot of guys I know would do anything for the life he had, at least on the outside. He made a great living and didn’t have anything that would have seemed like a insurmountable, unavoidable obstacle to run from, other than a mind that he could never escape. He said in his note that he had been working up the “courage” to take his life for 2-3 years, but had to get his affairs in order to give his family stability after his death. He secretly saved over 100k and set up college funds for his kids without his wife’s knowledge to give them something for the future and to help them grieve without the additional stress of financial hardship after losing the financial provider with a stay at home Mom with two little kids to take care of alone. Thankfully, a family friend offered her a well-paying job that she could work from home. Otherwise she probably wouldn’t have been able to find a whole lot in a small town with no degree and very little work experience over the last 8 years or so. She also met as really good guy s few years later and has been able to pick up the pieces of her life as well as one could. She didn’t give up on herself and found the happiness she deserved after suffering for a few grief stricken years. The real burden fell on the shoulders of their youngest daughter who was the one who found him in the garage the next morning as her and her brother were about to walk out to the bus stop for school. She’ll never be the angelic happy child with light in her eyes. She has become a self-harming “cutter” that her Mom worries could follow her Dad’s footsteps if she can’t get past this tragedy seared into her mind and memories. She was only when she had to experience a pain that no one, especially a child should have to endure. Her Mom was thankfully able to keep her brother from seeing the whole scene after her daughter ran into the house and couldn’t even talk other than crying outloud “Daddy, why Daddy” over and over. I hope and pray that the daughter is given peace and that one tragedy doesn’t beget another even worse tragedy. I can’t imagine discovering my parent dead, hanging lifeless. I’m a bit traumatized seeing family or friends in open caskets dead from illness or natural causes. It’s the wax figurine appearance, lifeless color and the clear realization of seeing a body that is not really your loved one, but the container they resided in. It feels dissociative to me and I’ve felt like I was going to faint at his visitation and couldn’t look at the casket after stepping away, and stared into the floor during the whole funeral in a trance of grief and tears I could barely see through. It gives me a new respect for nurses/doctors, police/firefigters, etc who have to confront death on a regular basis. I know many suffer from ptsd as a result, especially in really gruesome circumstances and/or when children are the ones lost. It’s a testimony to the fragility of life and how everything can change in a moment and some things are incredibly difficult if not impossible to fully recover from, you are changed forever at least in your memories. Please send out a prayer for my buddies daughter that she can overcome this is a way to allow her to find fulfillment and walk out of the darkness. She has a beautiful smile that she doesn’t get to share much anymore. Her side smirk when she laughs is a splitting image of her Dad and so are her big blue eyes, especially now that the pain shows through. Hug your kids or your parents as much as you can, one day will be the last time you get the opportunity and it could be today.
Sorry for the exhaustingly long story… It’s difficult to share with people in real life but has been a bit cathartic sharing this on RUclips where I doubt anyone reads it with much interest, nor responds or shares their own experiences. I haven’t talked about all of this in quite some time as it feels strange to do so when most people are trying to move past their grief and bottle things up after a few weeks or months after losing someone. But, if you think about a lost loved one daily even several years later, then maybe you should consider talking through it all with a close friend preferably who just listens and doesn’t try to tell you how to feel or what to do to move on, or at worst turns the conversation into something “worse” that happened to them or someone they know. Some friends may get uncomfortable and not want to be an ear for heavy emotional discussions, but hopefully you have someone willing to let you share and sit with you in your grief. Therapists/counselors are the ones who should be consulted if you need help with your grief management, some are great at their job but there are just as many who aren’t so good or even worse don’t really care to help others or simply don’t know how. The best counselors I’ve ever had would show their compassion and shared your pain at least temporarily, even shedding their own tears from your testimony or the feeling it invokes from their own experiences. The crappy ones in my experience are generally single without kids or divorced and share custody or don’t have much time with their kids or none at all. I’ve had awful men and women therapists, but a few more older grumpy-faced bearded dudes with coffee stained teeth and lonely eyes.
Rant Over… Take care of yourself, you deserve it. Peace🕊️🕊️🕊️
